Father's Day

Hot sunshine, long lines, cold drinks and a BBQ pilgrimage, this time to La Barbeque, is how we celebrated Father's Day 2016. Did I mention it was hot? Kids and I tried to stay in shade, while Mike held our place in line. I found an open food truck that had cups of ice and gelato, and Mike found the "free beer while you wait in line" keg, we were all trying to stay cool and have patience. Gelato for breakfast helps! As for the food? Thumbs up from the BBQ experts, worth the wait!

Seeking air condition, we continued our day with tickets to see Finding Dory at the IMAX theater in 3-D, located in the Bullock Museum (Texas History Museum). We will definitely be back to the museum on another trip, today was all about popcorn and black glasses!

Before leaving downtown Austin, we hit another place on our list to visit, Easy Tiger, a bakery and bar known for delicious pretzels and good brews, in a very funky and old cellar, that also has a cool patio (no more outside meals for us today) where we sampled one of those gigantic pretzels, yum!

*We knew ahead of time about our day, so our gifts to daddy were appropriately themed, a new Yeti and daddy's favorite beers (La BBQ is BYOB, as it is in a food truck park with picnic tables), oh and some new stainless steel skewers for when Mike grills for us at home! We love you! Happy Father's Day!
