Hannah's Second Week!

Our baby girl is already two weeks old! She is constantly changing and growing before our eyes...every day she does something new, has a new smile, or new cooing sound she shares with us. Seeing her stare up at you with her big, beautiful eyes certainly makes the multiple night feedings a little easier - though Mike and I have reached the exhaustion stage! She seems to be doing very well compared to us...eating well, sleeping well and overall being a very happy and peaceful little girl.

We do LOVE every minute spent with our daughter...and LOVE our new family of three!

Hannah's First Week!

Has a week passed by already? Wow! Someone failed to inform me how overwhelming things can become with the arrival of a new baby...not necessarily because of the baby but because of all the visitors! Today was such a peaceful day for Hannah and I - we finally had some one on one time and decided to take a nap together! (My first one in a week!) We also visited our pediatrician, Dr. Field, for our one week visit and received good news: we gained 4 oz. and grew a whole inch and a quarter! Hooray!

Life with Hannah is a new experience every day - but I wouldn't trade my days for anything! Here are some of my new favorite daily activities:

staring into my daughter's beautiful big eyes
singing (usually only reserved for church, because God loves all voices) but Hannah does not seem to mind either!
talking about belly buttons (Hannah lost hers on Saturday and is healing nicely!)
picking out Hannah's outfit for the next day, what nightgown she will sleep in, what her backup outfit will be...pretty much anything to do with what she wears!
watching her stare and play with her daddy :-)which is by far my favorite thing to watch!

Some big events in Hannah's first week:

My Texas Grandparents were sooooo excited to meet me! They could not be more proud than to see their baby girl with her baby girl. So very blessed to have both daughter and granddaughter be happy and healthy!

My D.C. grandparents couldn't wait to meet me! I have so many people who love me, what a lucky baby girl I am!

Do you see my special "Pillsbury" outfit?

I had my very first sponge bath at home! I really only liked being wrapped up in my towel after the bath...

Hannah's first week was filled with family, friends, and lots of love! What a sweet baby girl we have.

Today our daughter was born...

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above...
James 1:17

On Monday, May 17th, Mike and I received a most precious gift - our daughter. She came into this world wide eyed and ready to meet us. At 6lbs, 4oz, 19 inches long, she was a small little bundle but has already filled our hearts with a greater love than either of us could have imagined.

3:30 a.m. A very early wake up call for our 4:30 arrival time to be induced...but of course I want to shower before arriving at the hospital and so does Mike. We are prepared for a long day.

5:00 a.m. My pitocin is started and I am not excited about my IV. Or my hospital gown...or all of the monitors I am hooked up to. Mike and I take naps before my doctor arrives to break my water.

7:10 a.m. Dr. Reidy arrives and breaks my water. She says she will return around noon to check on my progress.

8:45 a.m. Contractions are NOT fun. Bring on the epidural...just don't let me see the needle!

12:10 p.m. Dr. Reidy arrives but not to check on me, to deliver a baby! - I begin pushing and...

12:47 p.m. Hannah Ryan Pillsbury arrives! Truly a moment in time that Mike nor I will ever forget. We were overwhelmed with joy when we hear our daughter cry for the first time and thank our God for such a miracle - a perfect baby girl and a healthy mommy.

We prayed for this child and the Lord has granted us what we asked of him.
