Princess Baking 101

Hannah knows how much I love to cook & bake, she also sees her Daddy grill & cook too...so of course The Disney Princess Cookbook was the perfect book for her! So far we have tried out two recipes both sweet of course! - not bad but I definitely tweaked them a little for taste! My little sous chef is so great in the kitchen, so proud to cook & bake with her!

13 Months Old Luke!

Luke is EVERYWHERE and into EVERYTHING! 13 months let's see, hard to even focus on what is new?! Crazy times here...Lukey has two new bottom teeth for a total of 4 on top, 4 on bottom. There isn't anything food wise he won't try! Anything we offer he will try and then demand more of it and stuff every piece we offer in his mouth all at once (we are working on good table manners...going to be a challenge!) Anything you are eating he wants, Hannah loves to share her food with him, which is good (we do promote sharing) but is also bad (Hannah is a selective eater)and needs to eat every bite of her food! He loves mashed potatoes...can you tell?!

Playtime is anything but calm - when playing together Hannah and Luke are loud and rowdy, and of course someone always ends up crying for some reason or another - generally the two work it out and play very nicely alongside each other in the playroom kitchen, or with the Little People castle, farm, house, etc. (we have quite a collection). Luke likes to play ball and will always find one if you ask him to go find one! He likes books (Little Blue Truck books his fav) and any animal sounds book or song. We sing the Elmo Has Four Ducks song all the time, Hannah sings to him too! Luke loves music and dance parties in the kitchen around or after dinner time are frequent! He bends his knees, bobs his head, waves his arms around and stomps his feet - pretty cute! Need to get that on video next time! Lovable, snugly, happy boy all around - Luke loves to be outside, running, swinging, digging in the dirt, playing with rocks, being pushed in his little bike or in the red wagon, chasing other kids or being chased! Loves the pool too - but mostly running to the edge (and leaning waaaayyy to close) and playing with buckets of water.

Bath time is always a fun time (and necessary) every night - Lukey loves playing in the tub - he will stand up and say out when he is ready to get out which is cute! He has a bedtime snack of yogurt or sometimes a small pouch/container of fruit (babyfood) and goes to bed by 7:30ish after a song or story, short rock, then a kiss and he is ready for his bed! Up by 7/7:30am ready for food the next morning, he does still take a short morning nap and an afternoon nap...not sure when we will transition him to one, he plays hard and needs a rest! Full of energy - full of bruises and cuts too - our Lukey keeps us on our toes! Eventually though...he runs out of energy - sweet boy!

Hannah's Last Day of Preschool

Hannah had a great year at preschool - when she was there! We did not win any awards for best attendance that is for sure! As a teacher, I knew Hannah would be fine and felt life & travel experiences with her family were best! My smart girl knows her letters/numbers, writes her name, has an amazing vocabulary, colors/shapes (and not just red, blue & green, we are talking aquamarine, turquoise & fuschia!) knows many Spanish words & phrases (and makes up her own!) and is doing well with geography (Jack in her class was from Australia, our neighbors Au Pair was from Colombia and Olivia from her class moved to Dubai - lots of questions and lots of maps!) Never received any negative reports from school about her behavior - good listener, leader, respectful, good friend & helpful! What more could we ask for? Proud of you Hannah!

Had to include these last little pages that were sent home...love reading the honest answers she gave her teacher!

*Our trip was not on our actual anniversary but before Easter weekend during our trip to TX. Just had to say it for records sake since this post is technically out of order!

10 Years

I am my beloved's, and my beloved is mine.
Song of Solomon 3:6

10 years ago those words appeared on our wedding program - such a simple bible verse yet so perfectly stated. As life past us by, years later they mean so much more than they did on our wedding day. I love my husband so very much and still consider him my beloved - hard to imagine life without him. Our love has changed, matured, grown and now can be seen in our children. With all of life's ups & downs, challenges, & hard moments - I am happy we have each other and wouldn't want to get through it all with anyone else! These photos make me laugh - this day seems like a lifetime ago!

"I hope for you both that on this day, your wedding day, is the day you love each other the least."
The words my dad used in his speech at our wedding didn't really mean very much to me back then...but now I understand. Love you more now than ever babe! Happy 10th!

Hannah's Ice Cream Park Party

On a cloudy, rainy, and cool May afternoon (what is up with the weather???) we celebrated Hannah's 4th birthday! After watching it pour down rain all morning...we actually ended up postponing the party until 3pm so the rain would end and the park could dry out a bit. Luckily the plan worked - hooray! Thanks to everyone who did a NO rain dance for us :-) Hannah invited her preschool class as well as friends and neighbors to her party this year - her first BIG party!

After letting the kids play for a little bit...the ICE CREAM TRUCK drove up! Lots of screaming for ice cream occurred and all the kids & adults enjoyed their sweet treats! SOOO fun to see how happy a simple little ice cream truck can make everyone!

Ice cream is delicious, but you just can't have a party without cake right? After a spirited happy birthday to you our little guests enjoyed cookie cake, watermelon and goldfish snacks...along with more playtime at the park! Hannah passed out ice cream bubbles to all of her friends and happily played all afternoon! Thanks to all who celebrated with us - we had one happy little birthday girl!

We opened presents at home after bathtime - can you guess her favorite gifts??? A big THANK YOU to all of our friends, neighbors and family who even with the crazy weather and time change came anyway to Hannah's birthday party!
