Father's Day Road Trip

Who wouldn't want to spend their Father's Day weekend road tripping from AL to TX, car packed to the max (and yes... we had the buy the cargo holder to fit everything the day we were leaving) with their two children and wife!?! Luckily our trip went well, kids were great, and we stumbled upon a tiny little BBQ joint Sunday afternoon, (gotta love central TX for that) perfect spot to stop and get a break from the road. Hammond's was pretty good, BYOB, and had big picnic tables that were shared, we sat by some nice and friendly people, and enjoyed a lunch that wasn't McDonald's or Chick-fil-a (not exactly our favorites, but you gotta do what you gotta do with kids on a 14+ hr road trip)!

The rest of the weekend was spent at the ranch in Llano, Mike only had a few days before he had to fly back to AL to finish up work before he could join us permanently in TX. We relaxed on Sunday, and used the other days to driveback and forth from the ranch to house hunt (more on our house hunt later on...)Thanks to my mom, all my Aunts, Uncles, & cousins for keeping the kids entertained and fed (my cousins make great BBQ) while we were gone during the day. Our kids just LOVE being at the ranch, can you see how happy and relaxed they are? I think Mike enjoyed it too - Happy Father's Day!

Moving Day

When we moved into our house back in November of 2008...we had no children. Both of our babies were brought home to this house and we simply added cribs and baby gear to each of their rooms...and clothes, and toys, and blocks, and more toys, and outside toys, and small toys and big toys, and sippy cups, and art supplies (we could school an entire neighborhood with our art supplies), and bikes, and wagons, and dolls, and trains, and trucks, and legos, AND...our house had slowly been taken over by toys the past 5 years and we didn't really know it until we had to pack it??!?!? While moving and packing create their own set of challenges, moving and packing with children (AND trying to pack all of their stuff) brought its own challenges! We had three weeks to sort through and pack up, and well, we barely made it! Hats off to my sis, COULD NOT have done it without your help watching the kiddos, THANK YOU! I know my crew loved their special pool, movie night, chick-fil-a time with their Tia! We will miss you all sooooooooo much, I try hard not to think about it?!? LOVE YOU LIL SIS! Crazy days, but we made it...big thanks to my hubby who worked hard into the night, taking the last look around, gathering all the little leftover items, and locking up one last time, tough job for sure! As we say goodbye to Huntsville, AL, we feel so blessed for all of the friends and memories we have made over the past ten years and look forward to what our future holds in Texas...

Be strong and courageous
Do not be afraid
Do not be discouraged;
For the Lord your God
Will be with you
Wherever you go."

Kim Greenfield Photos

I just love Kim, our photographer, and she graciously scheduled a last minute photo session before our move to TX. Always full of ideas and location spots...she nailed this one! Perfect spot, and amazing photos once again!

Birmingham Zoo

(Us trying to get a group selfie...)

With our move looming in sight, taking a day to enjoy a tiny bit of our summer was the perfect plan! After loading up what seemed like everything but the kitchen sink, Carla, Olivia, Hannah, Luke and I piled into the car (thank goodness for SUVs) and headed off on our road trip (Birmingham is about an hour and thirty minute drive, depending on traffic). The Bham zoo is on the smaller size, perfect for our little ones, easily walk-able and newly renovated too! Kids loved the Lorikeet exhibit, thanks to Carla who literally was the bird whisperer, attracting all the birds. The train, carousel, and giraffes were the biggest hits, followed closely with the kids splash pad that we saved for last! Great day, great zoo, GREAT company! Love our little group of cousins, looking forward to more adventures as they grow!
