Houston Trip Day 1: Rodeo

Well it's bulls and blood, it's dust and mud,
It's the roar of a Sunday crowd...
It's boots and chaps, it's cowboy hats,
And they call the thing RODEO!
-Garth Brooks

First time ever to the Houston Rodeo, B I G is how I would describe it...everything IS bigger in Texas! NRG stadium is massive, and so were all of the other grounds and buildings in the park. We met up with our friends, The Soulier family, for the day. Matt went to Trinity with Mike and I, and he and his wife Katie and their boys, recently moved to Houston from Louisiana. It was their first Houston Rodeo trip too! Our little cowboys and cowgirl were fast friends! They certainly enjoyed all of the fun rodeo snacks we ate (who doesn't love ice cream for lunch?), as well as all of the animals we encountered both big and small. Luke loved a massive bull named Red, and everyone was awed when watching the baby chicks hatch! Who doesn't love feeding animals? Kids brushed, fed, and petted llamas, sheep, and goats to their hearts content before we headed out to the Midway...

And that is when things got tricky! Chaos. The huge shiny rides, large stuffed animals, games, and just the crowd alone were enough to make you crazy! We used up tickets as fast as we could and bribed the kids out of there with more rodeo food in the food tents. Whew! We ate delicious BBQ brisket sandwiches, sausage, funnel cake, fried oreos, cotton candy, kids enjoyed pizza, and the adults enjoyed some nice cold cervezas in the shade...

Our crew of littles made it pretty far, but meltdowns ensued. We attempted a group photo, attempted. Hilarious memory of a fun day with friends...see you guys soon Souliers, and thanks for coming!
