Luke's Baptism: Part 2

Of course there is Part Two!! We headed to Rudy's for some delicious BBQ Texas style - what a perfect place feed our crew - so many memories & good times at Rudy's, happy to add another!

Later that evening we hosted everyone at my parent's house for more delicious food - homemade enchiladas - both verde and traditional, Spanish rice, boracho beans, pico de gallo, guacamole - and don't forget dessert! Coconut cake, Aunt Kurly's chocolate cake, and homemade oatmeal chocolate chip cookies by my Aunt Carla. So much fun to be surrounded by Aunts, Uncles, cousins, & friends - everyone ate and visited while the kids played and everyone enjoyed a little University of Texas Football - so much more exciting to watch the Horns' play (and win) while in TX!

My only living grandparent, Papa Carlitos, my mom's dad, has eight great-grandchildren - and it is very rare for them to be together but at Luke's baptism we had SIX! Now getting all of them in a photo together is another story...but we tried! Miranda, Jason, Hannah, Marcus, Matthew, & Luke!

We had a fabulous dinner on the Friday night before Luke's baptism with in town family. Scenic Loop Cafe is another great San Antonio restaurant that we love, good food, outside dining, & live music! So happy to spend a great night in Texas with our family!

Thanks so much to my mama and my aunts for making the weekend so amazing! Could not have done it without their help - love you all so much! Even managed to get a photo of all three of them - very rare!

Luke's Baptism: Part 1

"Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."
Matthew 19:14

Blessed to be surrounded by family & friends in the great state of Texas, at the beautiful church where we were married, where it seems like only yesterday we were here to baptize our baby girl...our son Luke was baptized. Sadly, Rev. Msgr. Walsh, our dear family friend, passed the week after Luke was born, but we do know he was there in spirit with us that morning. Proud godparents, Carla & Daniel, also godparents to Hannah, did a fabulous job at the baptism once again! (Jay & Dana Town were unable to attend). So thankful to everyone who made the trip to San Antonio to be with us as our son was welcomed into the church! We are so loved!

4 Months Old Luke!

Luke is a happy little guy at four months! Quite the jet setter...he will take his 2nd round trip flight for his baptism soon! While he doesn't love his car seat (we will be switching soon from the carrier to a bigger one!) he travels well and Hannah and I try to keep him entertained! Big and tall would describe Luke - he is longer than Hannah at this age by a couple of inches! and out weighs her too!

Luke 4 months stats: 15 lbs 2 oz, 26 1/8 inch tall
Hannah 4 mths stats: 11 lbs 10 oz, 24 inch tall (she didn't come close to his weight until 9 months when she finally weighed 16 lbs!)

Nearing 16 lbs, Luke is wearing 3-6 mths (more of the 6mths) size clothes, size 2 diapers, and a BIB at all times - drooling like crazy! Hannah calls him "Lukey" which is adorable - other names for Luke are little man, big guy, chubby chubs (Hannah loves this one), drool bucket, sweet boy...to name a few! Definitely not on as strict of a schedule as Hannah, but is still eating about 6 times a day - sometimes sleeping through the night (8-10hrs) but sometimes waking up too. Luke is a hungry baby! Much more challenging to keep up with him than it was with Hannah - I know things will change once he gets a taste of real food in a couple of months!

Luke is grabbing for and holding toys, pushing himself up with his arms well during tummy time, and loves to "stand" - he is a strong little boy! Cooing, oooing, "singing", and just making noise asleep and awake is what Luke likes to do! Still loves bath time - although he hasn't fit in the sink for some time and cannot sit up yet - so we got a little chair! Luke pulls hair, and sucks on his fingers - likes to chew on his burp cloth, toys, your shirt, pretty much anything he can stick in his mouth - early teether maybe? He has dry skin and some small patches of eczema - so we have to load on his lotion - poor guy! LOVES his big sister - she can always make him grin :-) and loves his mama - but what baby doesn't? Love you Lukey!

Hannah's 1st Day of Preschool

"Your off to great places!
Today is your day!
Your mountain is waiting,
So...get on your way!" - Dr. Seuss

Hannah's first day of preschool was so bittersweet - so proud of my big girl yet so sad to leave her! She did great though, so excited to go to school, got dressed as soon as she got out of bed, and had her backpack on and was ready to get in the car! Ms. Christie, her teacher, is really sweet and told me after day one that she knew exactly who to leave in charge of her classroom - Hannah! "Hannah can run this class," Ms. Christie said! A very excited Hannah ran to Luke and I when we picked her up - happy and ready to tell us all about her day. Hannah goes to school three days a week in the mornings, and Luke and I sure miss her, the house just isn't the same without her! I am happy that my sweet little girl loves her school and teacher - keep up the good work Hannah! We love you so much - Mommy & Daddy are so proud of our preschooler!

After school Hannah enjoyed a snack - her very own little cake! - and opened some first day of preschool surprises. A new raincoat and rain boots from my mom & dad, and new books, stickers, and crayons from Luke! She even brought US home a surprise - a beautiful quote from the book The Kissing Hand with her hand print!

Day Trip to Chattanooga, TN

Tennessee Aquarium

We took advantage of a Friday off, packed up the kids, and headed to downtown Chattanooga, TN to visit the Tennessee Aquarium. Hannah loved it! After a short drive we arrived and headed into the Ocean Journey - only to find penguins, sharks, jellyfish, sting rays (Hannah actually did try to touch them, they just didn't get close enough for her to reach!) and two beautiful blue Hyacinth Macaws - or Blu and Jewel from the movie Rio according to Hannah! To end our day trip, we headed towards the beautiful blue bridge with intentions to cross and head to the park and carousel, but the weather had other plans so we ended up in an AMAZING local ice cream shop instead! Fun day trip - we will definitely come back!
