Today our son was born...

From the fullness of grace we have received one blessing after another.
John 1:16

On Monday, April 29th, Mike and I received a precious second blessing - our son. He was eager to enter the world and came to us quickly. At 7 lbs, 4 oz, and 20 inches long, with dark hair and gentle eyes, we immediately fell in love.

4:00 a.m. Monday April 29. Our planned induction time - baby boy had other plans...

9:45 p.m. (Sunday, April 28) I had been having contractions off and on for the past 5 days/nights, these however were getting more intense and closer together, although still irregular...I decided to contact my friend and L&D nurse, and she advised us to start timing and monitoring the contractions even if they were irregular. We followed her directions and ultimately decided to head to the hospital - she agreed! Mike got a shower, packed up the car and we headed out!

11:24 p.m. (Sunday, April 28) Arrive at hospital. We are asked if we can wait till midnight to check in since our paperwork is in the system for April 29...seriously? Not a minute later the nurse starts new paperwork and admits us.

12:45 a.m. Settled in our room, Mike heads to the car to grab our bags, I get hooked up to monitors, IV.

1:35 a.m. Epidural. For the first time in a while I feel relaxed and calm. Sleep is good.

4:35 a.m. Pitocin is started. I am already 4 cm dialated, 80% effaced.

6:45 a.m. Dr. Reidy arrives, breaks my water. 6cm dialated, 90% effaced. She will be back soon!

7:28 a.m. 8cm

8:15 a.m. 9.5-10cm almost baby time - four contractions w/pushing later...

8:43 a.m. Lucas Owen Pillsbury is born! Our family has grown, and our hearts have welcomed another child to love. Sweet baby Luke is a perfect little miracle - we thank our God for this blessing of a healthy baby boy and healthy mommy.

We prayed for this child and the Lord has granted us what we asked of him.
